Ferdinand Porsche was an engineer and automotive designer who ran a consulting company offering design expertise to automotive companies. Porsche was contracted to design a car for the German government, the resulting design was the Type 1 VW or the Beetle as it’s more commonly known. Using that original platform Porsche designed the first sports car on that platform, the 1939 Porsche 64, often regarded as the first Porsche automobile, even though the first official model to be released by the company would be the 1948 Porsche 356.
Of course, Porsche history wouldn’t be complete without covering the 911, initially released in 1964 this would grow with models like the 911 S, Turbo, and Cabriolet. Running alongside the 911 were notable models like the 928, 924, 944 and 968 rounding out the Porsche lineup leading up to the 21st century. Rounding the corner the Porsche lineup would expand into the Panamera, Cayenne, Macan, 911, Boxster, Cayman, Carrera GT, Taycan and 718 giving the Porsche buyer more options than ever!
