Meet the people who make Motor Werke run.
Our team members welcome the opportunity to talk with you about your vehicle. So we thought you would like to know a little more about them.
Chris Germana - Owner
Favourite Car: E30 325is, VW R32 or a 997 GT3....too hard to choose one
From a young age, Chris was obsessed with cars. But not just any cars. He was fascinated by anything engineered in Germany. At age 20, still fuelled by this obsession (he prefers the word passion), he moved to Phoenix, Arizona to study at The Universal Technical Institute (UTI), the automotive industry’s training facility of choice in North America.
After graduation, Chris was accepted into BMW’s specialized factory training program and shortly after was working at the largest BMW dealership in North America. With 58 service bays and some of the finest technicians in the country, Chris learned the intricacies of not only BMW, but many other European vehicles. Later, he moved back to Toronto and worked for BMW Canada.
After marrying and starting his family, Chris and his wife packed up and moved to Kelowna to ensure a better quality of life for their two children. Once in Kelowna, Chris noticed an opportunity in the service experience for owners of European automobiles. So he went to business school and decided to start his own repair facility. One that removed any barriers between customers and their service provider.
Starting Motor Werke in 2009 with two bank loans and the physical help of his father to build the shop, Chris rapidly built up a team of passionate technicians and created a culture of transparency and openness. From the cleanliness and open sightlines of the facility to the personable and straightforward explanations of the staff, everything about Motor Werke reflects Chris’ passions for quality and unpretentiousness.
“Thank you for allowing us the privilege of servicing your vehicle; we will continue to provide you with the conscientious, honest service delivered with the highest standards of professionalism. We hope to remain your preferred centre for European automobile service for years to come.” – Chris Germana
Derek West - Technician
Favourite Car: The almighty Vauxhall Nova, much better than the BMW E30 of the same era
Derek came to Kelowna from Scotland in March 2015 and joined the Motor Werke team right away. His favourite thing about working here is that it’s never boring; a new challenge awaits him every day. Derek supports the Motor Werke mission to succeed by being thorough, having attention to detail, consistency, teamwork and routine.
It took Derek a year of living in Canada to realize that this was not, in fact, a dream. His time away from work has thus far focused on visiting family in Vancouver. Since the realization that Kelowna is his forever home has set in, he’s sure to set his sights on new travel adventures in the years to come.
Jeff Newhouse - Automotive Service Technician (AST)
Favourite Car: Porsche 918 Spyder
Jeff came to Kelowna in June 2016 and joined the Motor Werke team just one week later. Because he’s new to the Okanagan Valley, his reluctance to leave it is perfectly understandable. However, when he does travel, Jeff prefers to take in the sights in Hawaii and Australia.
Jeff prides himself on research, diligence, care and attention, and reaching out for support when required. He uses those skills to support Motor Werke’s mission to get it right; every car, every time. His favourite things about being part of our team are the culture, the company, and the variety of cars we service.
Braeden Stacey - Parts Manager
Favourite Car: The BMW E30 chassis cars - Timeless in design and a blast to drive!
Born and raised in Kelowna, Braeden joined the Motor Werke team in May 2017. He came to us after five years of working on BMWs; hanging up his wrench for an opportunity to learn more about the business side of the shop. So far, his favourite thing about working here is the diversity of vehicle brands, the real love of cars, and above all else the team attitude.
Braeden rarely finds a reason to leave BC when so much of what he loves -- the back country, camping, fishing, hiking, and ATV’ing – can be found right here at home. When he’s back at work, he brings attention, clarity and transparency to the job every day.
Kristy Senger - Bookkeeper
Favourite Car: Porsche 918 Spyder
Kristy came to Kelowna 13 years ago and found her way to Motor Werke in 2015. She's the official last word on all work performed in the shop, and she supports the Motor Werke mission to get it right with a hawk-eye on the paperwork to ensure meticulous documentation of the services we perform.
Her favourite thing about being part of our team is the staff. Everyone works really hard, and yet they manage to have fun while doing it. When she’s not applying her attention to detail at the shop, she enjoys taking her family on a relaxing camping trip in the beautiful Kootenays.
Stevie Lavallee - Detailing Technician
Favourite Car: Bentley Continental GT
Stevie has lived in Kelowna for 14 years; and in the Okanagan region for 22. She joined Motor Werke in the spring of 2015. The fun environment and opportunity to work with some really amazing vehicles are her favourite things about being a member of the team.
When she travels, it’s to a lake in the mountains for some camping and fishing, but a visit to Italy one day is definitely on her to-do list! Her eye for the details is due in large part to her love of following procedure to ensure nothing is overlooked.
Tessa Payne - Motor Werke Superstar
Favourite Car: 1970 W114 Mercedes-Benz
Tessa came to Kelowna from Ontario in 2015, and she joined Motor Werke in May 2016. When she takes a well-deserved break, her favourite place to visit is with her family back home.
Tessa’s favourite thing about working with us is the ability to work independently while being part of a team. To support the Motor Werke mission to get it right, every car, every time, she gives her job her best effort 100% of the time.
Kayleigh Sauve - Service Advisor
Favourite Car: Clifford - Her Red 1999 Jetta
Kayleigh came to Kelowna from Edmonton for University in 2008, and she never left. She's a recent addition to the Motor Werke team, joining us in February 2017. Though she's new to the team, she's been able to jump in and lend her hard work and attention to detail to support the Motor Werke mission.
An adventurous sort, Kayleigh has yet to travel to somewhere she hasn’t loved. Tofino, the Oregon Coast, Mexico, Australia, Oahu – She thinks they’re all incredible, but heading home to Alberta to visit the family is pretty nice too.
