Audi [Vorsprung durch Technik: “Being Ahead through Technology”] is one of the world’s best selling luxury vehicles. Their origin is complex and dates as far back as early 20^th century. There once was an engineer named August Horch (Horch and the Audiwerke) and two other manufacturers named DKW and Wanderer. These founders put their minds together back in 1932 and founded the Auto Union.

The first version of the Auto Union four ring logo was the umbrella firm for its four integral brands (Audi, Horch, DKW, Wanderer). The Auto Union racing team was well known and dominated not only GP car racing but set world records like the fastest speed ever attained on a public road (a record lasting until 2017). After barely surviving World War II, Auto Union was re-founded in 1949. Volkswagen then acquires Audi in 1964, followed by a merger with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969, creating the modern day form of the company we have today.

FUN FACT: Audi roughly produces 1,664,00 units a year out of 13 productions facilities in 10 different countries. At Motor Werke we service hundreds of Audi owners in Kelowna.

Audi today is keeping close to their founders by “Being ahead through Technology”. They have sophisticated driver assist functions, lightening fast DSG transmissions (Direct-shift Gearbox) and Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI engines). All these fancy acronyms are packaged together in Audi’s 100% corrosion proof galvanized and aluminum bodyshells. Some of their more race inspired vehicles like the Audi R8 even use aluminum space-frame technology which saves weight and improves torsion rigidity compared to conventional steel methods.
