Motor Werke Spirited Drive: A Celebration of Internal Combustion

We all love going for a drive. With Westside Road, Highway 33, Green Lake Road, the Sea to Sky Highway, the Fraser Canyon, and countless others all around us. Going by yourself is one thing, going with a friend in their car is even more exciting, but nothing compares to the rush of going on a Spirited Drive among a group of like-minded enthusiasts and their cars. The sounds, the sights, the adrenaline rush, it’s all amplified. That is what the Spirited Drive is all about. It’s a celebration of our passion in the most spectacular way possible.

The Motor Werke Spirited Drive is a day like no other. It starts bright and early at a predetermined location, such as a winery, or even at the Werkeshop itself. The attendees will check in, and settle in with some mingling and socialization with their fellow gearheads before we all depart. The cars are always incredible and the owners are always eager to chat about them. We’ve seen anything from a rare Subaru Legacy Spec B to a Lamborghini Murcielago SV, and anything in between.

As nice as the conversation among a pack of automotive enthusiasts can be, the feeling of seeing all these cars traveling in a pack on the highway is the real highlight of the Spirited Drive. When the time comes to head out, all drivers get to their cars and queue up to hit the road. Heads are always turning as the Spirited Drive hits the road.

The sound of dozens of high revving, high performance engines screaming along is unlike anything you’ve experienced before. It’s like being sucked into a video game. The adrenaline rush you get is an entirely different feeling than simply hitting the road by yourself. Winding down the Okanagan through the most scenic roads surrounded by the best cars, and most passionate drivers this community has to offer is a memory that won’t soon fade.

The Spirited Drives are often strategically placed at key points in the year. They will typically fall in the spring as a welcome to the driving season, in the height of summer to take full advantage of the beautiful Okanagan summers we get to experience, or at the end of summer as a final farewell before our favourite cars go into hibernation.

The routes will usually last a couple of hours with a point of interest at the end, whether that’s lunch at a local restaurant or a few rounds of racing at Area 27’s Kartplex. Our aim is to get the local automotive community together and support local businesses in the process.

As we head into winter, the itch to get our summer cars back on the road will be stronger than ever. Keep in mind that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  Make sure you sign up for our newsletter and keep your eyes open this spring for the announcement of the next Motor Werke Spirited Drive to properly ring in the 2023 driving season.
